1. Introduction

Although this word is only used once in the Scriptures, it has been the springboard for a large amount of biblical interpretation Supposition about who this person really is and his powers and purpose can be found throughout Christendom and among cult believers in the New Age and Free Masonry. Does Satan, God, an ascended Master and other similar categories have any basis in Scripture? .Is there a more reasonable answer?

Lucifer: word meanings

The word Lucifer is used only ONCE in the Bible
Isaiah 14:12 , “How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER , son of the morning!” This the Hebrew word heylel = ‘shining one’ (Young’s Concordance), ‘morning star’ (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance), ‘bright star’ or ‘splendid start’ (Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon).

Lucifer is the Latin name for Venus the bright morning star and was used as a translation of heylel. Heylel is not a proper noun but an adjective. In Hebrew this word is not a personal name, even in the remotest sense.

The Amplified Bible:

“Some students feel that the application of the name Lucifer to Satan is erroneous , even though it is commonly taught to that effect. Lucifer, THE LIGHT BRINGER , is the Latin equivalent of the Greek word phosphoros, which is used as a title of Christ in II Peter 1:19 (…until the DAY STAR arise in your hearts.) and corresponds to the name `BRIGHT MORNING STAR’ in Rev. 22:16, which Jesus called Himself . The application of the name Lucifer has only existed since the third century A.D., and is based on the supposition that Luke 10:18 (I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven) is an explanation of Isaiah 14:12 , which authorities feel is not true.”

If the person spoken of in Isaiah 14:12 is not Satan , who is he? In the context of this verse the king of Babylon is a man. A man is the primary subject..

The description given may be one of the types found throughout Scripture foreshadowing another man not a spirit being.

The Shining One

“How hast thou fallen from the heavens , O SHINING ONE , son of the dawn.”(Isa. 14:12, Young’s Literal Trans.).  Before Jesus, there was never anyone or anything fitting this description of a shining one except Adam. Nowhere in the scriptures do we read that Satan was anything but a murderer and a liar from the very beginning. Such a being could never be a shining one. In contrast Adam was in the beginning a creature of light.

(Gen 1:27 NIV) So God created man in his own image , in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

When God looked upon Adam He described him as “very good” . Adam was created in the likeness of God and his nature was that of his father. There was no sin present and like his father, Adam was full of light.

(James 1:17 NIV) Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights , who does not change like shifting shadows.
(1 John 1:5 NIV) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light ; in him, there is no darkness at all.

The Falling from Heaven

It is often suggested that the fall of Satan happened long ago. (Luke 10:18 NIV) He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven .This could not be from the heaven HE IS STILL THERE and awaiting the results of the war.

(Rev 12:7-11 NIV) And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. {8} But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. {9} The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. {10} Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. {11} They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
(Luke 10:18) I beheld Satan as lightning falling from heaven) is traditionally interpreted as a historical casting out in the far distant past. In the context of that time, it is more likely that Jesus is making a comment on the result of the ministry of the seventy He had sent forth. Falling had actually taken place during the time the seventy were sent by Jesus. They cast Satan out of a heavenly dominion, from that place within each person, where he had dominated those who were sick and demon possessed.
(Luke 17:21 NIV) nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.”

These disciples were ministering in the kingdom of God. It was at that time Jesus had seen him falling from heaven rather than thousands of years in the past; and so it will continue during the ministry of the ecclesia.

(2 Cor 11:14 NRSV) And no wonder! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
(2 Cor 11:14 NIV) And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Not transform — it is MASQUERADE. An attempt to be like the light — a masquerading actor; remember, he is a murderer from the beginning..

Son of the Morning

In the Hebrew son (ben) has the implied meaning of taking and building the family name. Satan, in his greatest moment, was never born and certainly not given an honorable name from which to build. However, God did bring Adam forth for such a purpose, and Adam did seek to build the name (nature) given to him, even after he had corrupted it. Jesus picked up the building tools of the Spirit and finished the work the first Adam would never be able to do. Adam was the shining “son of the morning “ who brought forth the first ray of light to the world. The Lord of Glory then came to finish the work declaring “I am the bright and morning star.” .

Satan’s Origins .

Jesus said Satan was a murderer from the beginning, did not stand for the truth, never stood in the light of truth and sinned from the beginning. If Jesus speaks here of the beginnings of all things then Satan was never a glorious, shining, angel of light with the name of Lucifer .
(John 8:44 NIV) You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there isno truth in him . When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
(1 John 3:8 NIV) He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning . The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

2. The Isaiah 14 controversy

You are cut down to the ground

(Isa 14:12 b NIV) You have been cast down to the earth , you who once laid low the nations!
… also speaks of Adam rather than Satan.
(Gen 3:19 NIV) By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground , since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Man was raised into the heavens from dust and to dust he is cut down too. This dust is that which satisfies the appetite of the serpent, for we read that on his belly (region of appetite) he would go and dust would be his meat all the days of his life (Gen. 3:14). Humankind is cast down from the light and glory of God and becomes part of the earthly — they became the fallen ones. The serpent was created from its beginning a subtle beast of the field (earth), while Adam, until he sinned, was a creature of the garden (the heavens). Over time the serpent has grown the wings of a dragon and seeks the lofty heights of the air of man’s mind. Not until the man child of Revelation 12 is caught up to God and His throne do we see Satan being cast out of heaven.

(Eph 2:2 NIV) in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and ofthe ruler of the kingdom of the air , the spirit who is now at workin those who are disobedient .

Note he speaks “in” not “to” .

I Will’s

(Isa 14:13 NIV) You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

This verse also describes the characteristic of humankind as they aspire to be as gods on the earth. The first recording of humankind exercising its will outside of God is in the third chapter of Genesis.

(Gen 3:4-6 NIV) “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” {6} When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

(Were they thinking?) — I WILL ascend, I WILL exalt myself, and I WILL be like God).” It was humankind who desired to be like God not Satan. Satan desires to kill &destroy. Although Adam was in the image (phantom, Heb.) and likeness (model, Heb.), he was not God but began to desire the power. Satan’s desire was to do what he was created to do, to be a liar and to murder, and he very effectively did both. The woman believed the lie and after she and her husband ate, they died that day — murdered at the subtle hand of Satan who was a murderer from his beginning.

(John 10:10 NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy ; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full .

The Characteristics of Lucifer

The characteristics mentioned in Isaiah 14, are consistently identifying a carnal man rather than the devil Satan who is a spirit. E.g.

(Isa 14:16 NIV) Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble ,

There is no spirit that fits the description of the “lucifer” spoken of in Isaiah 14. Carnal man, however, does fit that description. Scripture tells of Adam’s fall from his shining glory into the realm of darkness and death. The despair, the pangs of grief wrapped about his soul and body as a foreboding death shroud — impossible to escape. The Bible is records the perpetual struggle of humankind trying to rebuild from the ruin of corruption they are cast down into. Even though blinded by the sin-laden soul, humankind seeks that lost perfection. Human’s grope in darkness, grasp at every straw — power, sex, drugs, riches, music, entertainment, and all manner of games and activities that satisfy only for a time — hoping it will be that one thing that will relieve the pain of the tormented soul.

Humankind builds kingdoms upon the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, only to find they all fail to fill the void. Every attempt to secure self-made happiness eventually crumbles and falls into futility and despair.

Humanity seeks life but true life is nowhere to be found; until God reveals the light . When the lost begin to see for the first time the reality of their Creator, He touches the seed of righteousness within their hearts, and they finally begin to shine as the Son. They shine, but not as the first Adam, the light-bearer, but they shine as the second Adam — as life-givers .These purified ones become a flaming fire , possessing words of fire, and their eyes in like fashion, as fire , radiate life, equity and judgment to all — igniting and refining everyone they speak to or look upon. (Psa 104:4 NIV) He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants .

(Jer 5:14 NIV) Therefore this is what the LORD God Almighty says: “Because the people have spoken these words, I will make mywords in your mouth a fire and these people the wood it consumes.
(1 Cor 6:2-3 NIV) Do you not knowthat the saints will judge the world ?
( Rev 1:14 NIV) His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire .

This is what it is to be a true son of the morning.

3. The Ezekiel 28 Typology

The Prince of Tyrus

(Ezek 28:1-19 NRSV) The word of the LORD came to me: Mortal, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord GOD: Because your heart is proud and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,” yet you are but a mortal , and no god, though you compare your mind with the mind of a god. You are indeed wiser than Daniel ; no secret is hidden from you;  by your wisdom and your understanding you have amassed wealth for yourself, and have gathered gold and silver into your treasuries. By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you compare your mind with the mind of a god , herefore, I will bring strangers against you, the most terrible of the nations; they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and defile your splendor. They shall thrust you down to the Pit, and you shall die a violent death in the heart of the seas. Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you? You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of foreigners; for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD. Moreover the word of the LORD came to me: , raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre , and say to him, Thus says the Lord GOD: You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, carnelian, chrysolite, and moonstone, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald; and worked in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. With an anointed cherub as guardian I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the stones of fire. You were blameless in your ways from the day that you were created , until iniquity was found in you. In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and the guardian cherub drove you out from among the stones of fire. Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you. By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade, you profaned your sanctuaries. So I brought out fire from within you; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you. {19} All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.

These are scriptures used to argue that Satan was once the most beautiful angel of all, who lived in the heavens of God but was cast out. Like Isaiah 14, these verses are more descriptive of man than a spirit being.

Verse two is about a mortal being , ( someone who will die) . Thus says the Lord GOD: Because your heart is proud and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,” yet you are but a mortal. He is spoken of as a unique being who was very wise even greater in wisdom than Daniel (so was Adam)”

(Gen 2:20 NIV) So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.

This person was in the Garden of Eden. He was signified as the standard for perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. He was blameless from the day he was created. The description fits Adam perfectly. In contrast, Satan was a murderer from the beginning.

In the statement I am God,” the word for God is EL (singular) which is only ascribed to the one supreme God .In the Hebrew the definite article “a” is not present. This individual is actually declaring, I AM the almighty GOD.” The word for God in “I sit on the throne of a God ,”is “elohim “(plural); or literally,” I sit in the throne of the Gods .” He identifies himself as one of the gods/elohim, while esteeming himself as the highest of all the other gods.

Men are referred to as “gods” (elohim) in the Bible, but never as “God” (El), while neither of the titles was ever used to identify Satan. The characteristics of El and elohim are that ofstrong ones who cancreate , can weigh a situation and make ajudgment , and have authority, rule and dominion over others .Both God and men have all these qualities.. The only things Satan has ever had are the latter of these attributes, and that was part of the curse. In the above verse, the one spoken to was told he was not the God of the gods but A MERE MAN – a man that could fill the shoes of one of the elohim but not those of the El.

“…You seal up the sum …” (KJV, Verse 12),

This does not really speak to us as having a particular substance of unusual worth. Other more accurate translations:

Young’s Anyl. Concordance: (Sealest): SEALED, FINISHED.
(Sum): MEASUREMENT, STANDARD.
au. Conc… (Sum): ADMEASUREMENT, i.e. CONSUMMATED.
Amplified Bible…..You are the FULL MEASURE and PATTERN of EXACTNESS.
Companion Bible…You are the FINISHED PATTERN. (Margin).

The subject is the sum, the exact finished pattern from which those following him will be produced. He was the prototype. The prototype, the model, was Adam not Satan. The devil was never created to be a model for anything, but according to Genesis Adam was brought forth for this very purpose.
“Let us make humankind in our image, and after our LIKENESS…” (Gen. 1:26). The word likeness in this verse is from the Hebrew word (demuwth) = a model Adam, was the first blueprint (the first Adam) for all humanity. Adam was the first pattern son from the dust of the earth, and all of humankind would be molded after him. All humankind came from the assembly line of his loins.

Jesus, on the other hand (the last Adam) and He was and still is the last pattern son of the spiritual realm of the heavenlies. . All humankind will be molded after this perfect pattern; but each in his own order.. . Jesus is the one
“Who is the image of the invisible Gos, the first born of every creature . (Col. 1:15).
All men , without the choice of being born, followed Adam, the first, exact pattern into death; likewise, all men, will follow the second, exact pattern, JESUS, into life. (ref. Heb. 1:3, I Cor. 15:45-49 & 22-28, Eph. 1:9-11, and Rom. 5:18 ).

…FULL OF WISDOM, AND PERFECT IN BEAUTY” …(Verse 12)

Something in the earthy man that had reached its capacity: man’s wisdom and beauty. If his wisdom had been the wisdom of God he would never have fallen; however, being the wisdom of natural man, even in all its glory, he failed. The corruptible, as great as it was or might be, must die and give place to the incorruptible. Humankind will then be able to say as God did, “I change not” Until a change comes man will only be as good as Solomon’s words,“…A man’s wisdom makes his face to shine, and the boldness of his face wil be changed.”
The Lucifer portrayed in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 has wisdom but as Adam eventually falls back into the darkness of dust.

“You have been in Eden, the garden of God(Verse 13).

It has been assumed this was speaking of Satan, since it appears the serpent was in the garden when Eve was tempted. However, another who was in the garden who was not the clever beast of the field. In Ezekiel 31 he is referred to as a tree

(Ezk. 31:2,5,6,8,9,18) “…Whom art thou like in thy greatness…the water made him great, the Deep set him up on high…Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field…All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations…no tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden , that were in the garden of God , envied him. To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden : yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth: you will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is PHARAOH and all his multitude(Or can we say, THIS IS ADAM and all his multitude?), says the Lord God”

Pharaoh king of Egypt , and is compared to another man, hispattern,Adam. Similarly Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 are admonitions and prophecies that are directed to kings, which also are compared to Adam who was once in the garden of God (heaven), but fell from it.

This garden/heaven is akin to the heavens where we now sit in Christ Jesus, as our feet walk on the earth.

“… Every precious stone was your covering (Verse 13b).

Precious stones are believed to represent the radiating of certain characteristics of humankind when the light of God passes through them. There were precious stones in the breastplate of the high priest, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel . The priests were the mediators between God and man. The twelve tribes were on the breast of the priest as these stones, sanctified through Aaron and intended to radiate the glory of God.

We also as living stones are in the breast of Christ our high priest, to radiate the particular beauty of God.

This king, like Adam, possessed some of this grandeur in the day of his glory. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, carnelian, chrysolite, and moonstone, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald; and worked in gold were your settings and your engravings. These stones covered the one described in Ezekiel 28 Precious stones are things that adorn man and not a spiritual being who would never have a body to radiate and manifest glory. If Satan wants to reveal himself in any form, the only way he can do it is through a human body. He can take over a man’s body, or have a many-membered body of people enslaved, but he has never had a personal body of his own. The one who was covered by stones in Ezekiel 28 is more likely to portray a man than a spirit being called Satan.

“… The workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.”(Verse 13c).

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance reads : “…The deputyship, i.e. the ministry of thy tabrets and of thy bezels were erected and established in thee in the day that thou was created.”

Pipes or bezels
Bezels are the sloping sides of the faces of a cut gem, especially those of the upper half. Also the grooved ring or rim holds the gem in its setting. A jewel, no matter how rare or potentially beautiful it is, has little value until the facets or bezels are cut. Bezels serve the two primary purposes of allowing light to enter into the jewel’s body reflecting it outwardly to show the beautiful colors of the gem and securing the jewel into its proper place. Without the bezel, a stone cannot be set in place. We as living stones are no different. We can only manifest God’s glory after the bezel has been cut into us and we are set as precious in His crown (Zech. 9:16) or elsewhere in His kingdom as He desires.

Tabrets
A jewel radiates the light by “being” what it is. The result of subjection to the tools in a master’s hand. The tabret/tambourine, on the other hand, is something the servants used to show inexpressible love and gratitude for their Master. In the Scriptures, the tabrets were always used when there was an overflowing joy for God. Sometimes words fail to express our thanksgiving and praise to Him. This is when the tambourines of the spirit break forth into rejoicing that satisfies. Israel would always beat their tambourines when they were overwhelmed with joy as they gained victory over the enemy by the power of God. It is the same with us. When He to brings us victory a joy wells up inside finding release with singing, dancing, and playing the musical instruments in the high praises of God!

Unlikely that tabrets to show such joy was placed in Satan. Man does have an enemy to conquer; and every time we achieve spiritual success, the tabret of the spirit sounds the praise of victory.

The anointed guardian cherub

(Ezek 28:14 NIV) You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones .

This particular verse has probably been the most influential in supporting the view that Satan was the cherub. Perhaps, the reason is due to the wide spread teaching that a cherub is an angel (a spirit being), and it is clear that Adam was a physical being rather than spirit.

The conclusion to which many come is that the one spoken of must be Satan, for he was presumably in the garden with Adam. Since it has also been presumed there were no others in Eden , and Adam was not an angel, then Satan is the only one this title could have been ascribed to..

But the word are “anointed as” and can speak more of a quality in man rather than that of a spirit entity outside of him. We do not have all the answers to the mystery of the cherubim (plural for cherub,); but Satan has never been one. Jesus said he was “A MURDERER FROM THE BEGINNING.” – Not a cherub, but a murderer !

(John 8:44 NIV) You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Cherub is often used in the scriptures in reference to guarding the way of life, that is, to keep the man of corruptible flesh from ever approaching to the tree of life — Jesus Christ ; except, by the prescribed way. The first time cherubim are mentioned is in Genesis
Gen.: “So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubim to keep the way of the tree of life.”
The word ‘keep’ is translated from the Hebrew word shamar which mean’ to hedge about, i.e. to guard or protect. In Ezk. 28:14 the word “covers” implies this also. It means“to entwine as a screen to fence in, to cover over, to protect.”l

In the tabernacle the walls of the two inner sanctuaries (the holy place and the holy of holies) had cherubim sown into them, the veil over the door to the holy of holies had cherubim sown into it, and the mercy seat had two cherubim over it also. The way back to the heart of the garden of God (the tree of life/the ark of the covenant) was well protected from fallen man. The only way back into the paradise of God would be the prescribed way of God, which is through Jesus Christ. He is all the doors of the tabernacle, the sacrifice, the water of the laver for cleansing ones life, the anointing oil before entering the holy place, the oil of His Spirit in the lamp stand, the flame from the lamps, the shew bread of His body, the refining fire in the incense altar, the governing rod of Aaron that budded, the manna, and the holy laws of God. None of these, can be partaken of except through Jesus Christ our Salvation — He will lead us through each step of the way.

Everything we read and know about the cherubim speaks of something in man himself that keeps him from the pleasures of God until his journey is found in and through Jesus Christ. But nowhere, do we find it even remotely hinted that Satan was ever a cherub or had anything to do with them in any way. Ezk. 28:14 is also speaking of man.

you were upon the holy mountain of God…”(Verse 14b).

Mountains in scripture are symbolic of kingdoms upon the earth, whether that of God or man. When Adam became no longer worthy to rule in the holy mountain/kingdom of God/Eden, he was removed.

(Gen 1:28 NIV) God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
(Gen 3:6 NIV) When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
(Gen 3:24 NIV) After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

“… you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.” (Verse 14c).

Walking up and down, especially in the Hebrew, describes two dimensions of life. A high, elevated, and glorious position or a low, debased position. The king/Adam had everything as he ruled among the stones of fire, but submitting to the temptation of I WILL BECOME, without it becoming through God, he lost it all and became a lowly creature of sweat and tears. There is no certainty about the stones of fire. Perhaps the precious stones worn on the breast of the high priest Aaron and the meaning of the light that shone from these gems has some relationship?

“You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you.” (verse 15).

Adam was perfect, until he became cunning like the serpent who had beguiled the woman. The word naked in Genesis 2:25 (“And they were both NAKED, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed”) is the same Hebrew word ARUWM as Genesis 3:1 (E.W. Bullinger’s notes in the Companion Bible). “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field….” (ARUWM).
Of course, they had no idea such an earthy thing as subtlety lay dormant within themselves; so even before God made man He made something (the serpent and the tree of knowledge) that could bring this subtle, earthy, carnal nature to the surface and cause it to be manifested. Then in the light of their cunning character and in shame, they attempted to cover it up by sowing fig leaves together which is with us to this day. Man has covered his crafty carnality with great church buildings, tall steeples, stained glass windows, creeds, doctrines, ordinances, ceremonies, rituals, programs, laws and bylaws, you name it and they have done it. Man has sown religious facades together to cover their stark nakedness; but all these awe-inspiring things are nothing but fig leaves that will eventually dry up, crumble to nothing, and be blown away by the holy wind and breath of God’s Spirit.

by the multitude of your merchandise they have filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned: therefore I will cast you as profane out of the mountain of God : and I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.” (verse 16).

What happened to this man that is still happening today with others who get great gain, supposing gain is godliness (I Tim. 6:5).
The multitude of their getting makes ruthless, selfish, demanding, proud, arrogant men in sheep’s clothing who have erred greatly. Listen to, get to know your TV evangelists, consider the place money and merchandise has in the religious life of the world, find out the extent of the sin and corruption.

you have defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities … therefore will I bring fire from the midst of you, it shall devour you, and I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you.”(verse 18).

God has created in man three distinct sanctuaries for the purpose of cohabitation — SPIRIT, SOUL, and BODY, and typified in the tabernacle as the holy of holies, the holy place and outer courts. Adam defiled these sanctuaries when he submitted to the temptations of the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. Satan was never given a sanctuary. Man alone has been set apart and blessed the honor of being a holy sanctuary for God’s habitation. Jesus said, “He dwells with you, and shall be in you” (Jn. 14:17 ).

When God’s habitation was defiled, He promised a burning, cleansing, transforming fire for Adam, the house of God. He will not live in a dirty, defiled house. Such fire is typified in the sacrificial altar of the outer court and the altar of incense. Incense fire burnt in the holy place and once a year taken into the holy of holies and to burn incense before the Ark of the Covenant. Each realm of man has a season for purification. These same fires placed within the heart of man will purge, destroy, and consume every faction of carnality that might be in him. John the Baptist said it very well when he declared of Jesus, He shall baptize you with the holy ghost, and with fire : Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor… He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” (Mt. 3:11-12 ).

Jesus said, “EVERYONE SHALL BE SALTED WITH FIRE ” (Mrk 9:49 ). After this fire of brimstone has left nothing but ashes, man will lament, but only for a season, for God will be faithful, as He promised to Israel , and” give to them beauty for ashes.” (Isa. 61:3).

“all they that know you among the people shall be astonished at you: you will be a terror, and never will you be any more.” (verse 19).

Either a traditional folk theology puts Satan as the caretaker over hell throughout eternity or he will be burning there throughout eternity. He would be eternally alive and very much in existence. Verse 19 reads that something is to “never be any more” Not Satan however but the flammable carnal, rebellious nature of man, even the desire; the avenue to sin will have been removed and destroyed never to rise again.

Conclusion

The “Lucifer rebellion” is not of a war Satan waged against God eons ago; but “Humankind’s rebellion following the temptation. The only war Satan has ever had is going on now in the very midst of the heavenly realm of the lives and minds of men (Rev. 12). The Latin word, Lucifer, meaning Shining One,is not referring to Satan at all, but is very descriptive of Adam. No honor was ever due to Satan he was never a shining angel of light, for he has always been the waster, the prince of darkness, and a liar and murderer from his beginning.

Man, however, is the one who has been all the things Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 speak of: LUCIFER, the resident of Eden, the BEAUTIFUL ONE, the PRINCE OF GOD, the SHINING CHERUB among the stones of fire He was in Eden, the Garden of God, in Paradise, in Heaven, ruling from the Mountain of God and among the Stones of fire — radiating the glory of his creator.

He was a model of finished product. We now see Jesus the true shining one coming forth with the awesome splendor embracing those in the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

ADDENDUM:

Freemasonry

These are extracts from Masonic sources regarding how they teach the idea of Lucifer.

The energies of Lucifer

“When the Mason learns that the Key to the warrior on the block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the Mystery of his Craft. The seething energies of LUCIFER are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward, he must prove his ability to properly apply [this] energy.” (Lost Keys of Freemasonry, Manly P. Hall, page 48)

Yes, Lucifer is God

“That which we must say to the crowd is – We worship a God, but it is the God that one adores without superstition.

“To you, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the Brethren of the 32nd, 31st, and 30th degrees – The Masonic Religion should be, by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the Luciferian Doctrine.

“If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay (The God of the Christians) whose deeds prove his cruelty, perfidy and hatred of man, barbarism and repulsion for science, would Adonay and his priests, calumniate him?

“Yes, Lucifer is God, and unfortunately Adonay is also god. For the eternal law is that there is no light without shade, no beauty without ugliness, no white without black, for the absolute can only exist as two gods: darkness being necessary for light to serve as its foil as but lucifer, God of Light and God of Good, is struggling for humanity against Adonay, the God of Darkness and Evil.” (Instructions to the 23 Supreme Councils of the World, Albert Pike, Grand Commander, Sovereign Pontiff of Universal Freemasonry, July 14, 1889. Recorded by A.C. De La Rive, La Femme et l’Enfant dans la Franc-Maconnerie Universelle, page 588)

These beliefs place the Adamic man upon the throne of humankind’s concept of God and “self” as the motivational cause for all the works of man.
